Users of the Victim Advocate: Sexual Assault Victim training system include advocates, counselors, residential directors, student health service providers, and workers at crisis intervention centers. Through a simulated conversation with Angela, they can practice an interaction with a female rape victim without jeopardizing her emotional or psychological well-being. While discussing the role of victim advocates, immediate safety, health, and comfort concerns, options for reporting, medical exams, future safety concerns, counseling, and follow-up care with Angela or John, the user can practice strategies for communicating with assault victims. Angela and John are different in every conversation, moving quickly between various moods and emotional states, forcing users to adapt their communication approaches to every conversation and creating a unique experience with every play.

Users have an additional challenge when they have a simulated conversation with John. Although they are called on to deliver the same information, their interactions will be different as John portrays the specific issues for a male rape victim.

It is the user's job to provide the support and information that assault victims need to make informed decisions about their legal, reporting, medical, counseling, and safety options. In addition to practicing authentic conversations with Angela and John, this training system provides users with real-time support and feedback from an on-screen coach. Users also receive a post-conversation assessment that evaluates how well the user gave information while giving appropriate support to the victim. After playing this training system, users will be able to guide sexual assault victims through the process of getting themselves help.
