Opioid Use Disorder: Ongoing Support with Paloma Alvarado
Scenario
Paloma Alvarado has been working with a peer counselor after completing an in-patient rehab program. Recently, she is experiencing an increase in setbacks relating to her opioid addiction and needs support. In this meeting, speak with Paloma about the positives of her sobriety, her recovery strategies, and considering the use of Medication Assisted Recovery.
It often takes time for clients with Opioid Use Disorders to make a change to stop using drugs, and often they experience setbacks throughout recovery. Peer counselors are in a unique position to support clients in recovery as they can relate to the client's experience, especially around the difficulties of working through setbacks. Having proper support is essential to maintaining sobriety. Knowing how to effectively support individuals in their recovery process can help them maintain positive changes in their drug use.
