So what does SIMmersion create?

SIMmersion creates computer-based conversation simulations that feature a videotaped character. Users select from a variety of questions or statements for the character, the system chooses a response based on what the user asked (along with other factors), and the response is presented to the user. Because of SIMmersion’s unique software and development approach, users rarely have the same play experience twice.

How are SIMmersion simulations different from other computer simulations?

Other computer simulations use branching logic, where a user can ask a question and the computer will always pick from the same 2-4 responses. This will prompt 2-4 options for the user (and they’re always the same). The simulation becomes predictable, unrealistic, and, ultimately, inadequate for training.

Why not use role plays?

Role plays are fantastic training tools in some capacities, but most suffer from inherent limitations. Compare traditional role plays with SIMmersion simulations:

Role plays SIMmersion simulations
  • Are often short and can only be done once
  • May be played many times
  • Can only be done during the training session
  • Can be used days, weeks, or months after the training session. (In fact, you could run through a simulation just before you have to use the skills tested in the simulation.)
  • Are normally performed by other trainees
  • Are performed using a carefully written script
  • Provide limited, inconsistent, and subjective or judgmental feedback
  • Provide meaningful, objective and non-judgmental feedback

Who do I contact if I’m interested in buying a simulation for my business (or my government agency or health care organization)?

Full descriptions of the various business opportunities with SIMmersion, as well as how to purchase a simulation, are available through our Products page.

What systems are in development currently?

Currently, SIMmersion staff are working on the following:

  • Interrogation related to a corporate theft
  • Interviewing techniques (If you are interested in a Spanish language version of this simulation, please contact us.
  • Negotiation
