Brooke Lerner was transferred to your team at WondorWorks due to her outstanding customer service. She has continued to excel with customers, but she has also failed to meet several performance expectations. Brooke has been using her time inefficiently, helping with nonessential projects, and planning social events. She uses team meetings as a personal forum to discuss her thoughts and opinions, and her weekly status reports have been consistently late. Brooke's substandard performance is beginning to negatively impact the productivity of your team.
SIMmersion's Performance Counseling training system is designed to help managers, supervisors, and human resource representatives coach employees through performance issues. By talking with Brooke, users will learn strategies to plan and execute their own performance counseling sessions with difficult or underperforming employees. Through variances in Brooke's personality types, sources for poor performance, emotions, and moods, users will gain a range of experiences they can draw from when talking to their own employees. Sometimes Brooke may think she knows more than you, and other times she may be easily upset, but as Brooke's manager, it is your responsibility to help her discover the source of her performance issues and create a reasonable plan to improve.
At the end of their training, users will have mastered active listening, building rapport with employees, helping employees discover the source of substandard performance, creating action plans, and managing confrontation. Users can refer back to the e-learning materials to refresh their knowledge of performance counseling steps, as well as special situations like dealing with an emotional employee. On-screen assistance is also available through a help coach who provides real-time feedback. Through post-conversation assessments, users will be able to gauge their progress and identify areas of improvement. Users can take advantage of these feedback mechanisms, as well as post-conversation quantitative and qualitative feedback, to improve their performance.
